A Master of None: Brown Fala
A Master of None: Brown Fala is a personal exploration by Lila Crichton into the art forms that have shaped and raised him--drawing deeply from Samoan roots and the rich influences of Māori and Black culture. Through original music, movement, and storytelling, this show celebrates healing, renewal, and the power of community. Inspired by the intricate art of mat-making, or "fala," it's both a tribute to tradition and a call to adaptation and sustainability.
Created for the diaspora, A Master of None: Brown Fala honors the beautiful cultures that have supported our existence and survival. With a multidisciplinary ensemble, the performance blends traditional and contemporary influences, inviting audiences into a shared experience of connection, cultural pride, and transformation.
This show offers an authentic, heartfelt look into Samoan identity, for anyone seeking inspiration in the interconnected art forms that unite our communities and keep us resilient.
