Shift of Tides
The Shift of Tides
Created and performed by Karolina Gorton
and Pipi-Ayesha Evans
In the windows of Graphic Comics at 105 Cuba Street.
Step into a powerful physical theatre experience that explores the unpredictable nature of beginnings and endings - fluid, nonlinear, and often beyond our control. The Shift of Tides invites audiences to witness shifting states of emotion and movement, challenging perceptions and embracing the beauty of transformation.
Karolina Gorton and Pipi-Ayesha Evans guide you through the circle of
life - from the first breath to the last - navigating the spaces between
yesterday and tomorrow, joy and sorrow, presence and absence. It's a
journey of memory, resilience, joy, and rediscovery, where we carry our
burdens and find the strength to lift them. We are not helpless... are
we?
Developed as an incubator performance with support from the Viewfinder
window gallery in Whakatū, Nelson, this striking work unfolds across two
windows, two spaces - where reality bends through glass and connection
is tested. The performers explore the boundaries between these spaces,
revealing the tension, intimacy, and distance that shape our human
experience.
A visceral, poetic, and visually striking performance that resonates deeply with the rhythms of life and the tides of emotion.
