Crows Feet Dance Collective and Iranian Solidarity Group New Zealand present WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM a free outdoor dance & music protest event. We come together
to raise awareness about women's and human rights violations in Iran, to stand in solidarity with Iranians resisting authoritarianism, gender apartheid, and state violence. Through public protests, cultural events, exhibitions, and advocacy, the Iranian Solidarity Group New Zealand aims to amplify Iranian, in particular women's voices and support political prisoners.
WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM is the second collaboration between Crows Feet and Iranian Solidarity Group, and follows the critically acclaimed performance at the Hannah Playhouse in 2024 where Crows Feet performed WLF, a full length work to Goretsky's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs. In this new 2026 outdoor event we perform with the Iranian Solidarity Group New Zealand to contemporary Iranian protest songs.
Crows Feet director, Jan Bolwell, says "we are thrilled to be presenting this free outdoor event with Iranian Solidarity Group New Zealand. We believe in the power of the arts to expose and comment upon injustices in the world - indeed, we see it as our responsibility, living as we do in Aotearoa New Zealand, in a free democratic society. The bond we have formed with Wellington's Iranian community is a very special one, and the Crows Feet dancers lives have been enriched through this partnership. We hope to attract a good sized audience to our outdoor performances. And may the weather gods be with us!!
