Cursed
Aimee Thorne is a stand-up comedian with a dark, acerbic wit. Picture Wednesday Adams with a microphone. Her show Cursed is all about the contradictions of what it means to be a woman in her girl boss era who also struggles with the desire to people please. Imagine a queen who wears her crown high and proud but also feels the need to apologize to the wall she just accidently walked into. Her jokes are all about dismantling the double standards and expectations women are cursed with.
Aimee Thorne brings her grim observations to the stage that draw on her
experiences surviving the trauma of misfortune. She likes to conjure
laughs from the depths of her despair for the audiences amusement,
because she is generous this way. Her show is also about finding the fun
in funeral. It's giving Elvira meets the Spice Girls. It's giving
Siouxsie Sioux in pastels. It's about putting her foot down in her disco
ball studded Doc Martins. It's a show about the transformative power of
finding humour in the darkest of corners. It's about turning her ashes
not into dust but into glitter.
