Compelled to prove the past wasn't so prudish, Ms. Weeds will take you on a sonic ride with some of the dirtiest songs from blues history. Uniquely qualified for this task, burlesquer come blues musician, she will perform songs for your pleasure while telling you the stories behind them. In 2024, she co-produced her first ever Fringe show, Burlesque and Blues, the Devil's Own, which was nominated for the NZ Fringe Festival awards for Momentous Movement. Dirty Old Songs will be Ms. Weeds' first ever solo show!
Ms. Weeds is a retro weird singing burlesque darling from Pōneke, Wellington and has been performing around Aotearoa New Zealand since 2011. She's a multi-instrumentalist and with a voice that packs a punch, lovingly referred to as the human fog horn. Winner of numerous awards such as:
- 2018 Mx Burlesque Aotearoa - Crew Choice
- 2019 Wellington Alternative Performing Arts Award for favourite cabaret performance for her rendition of Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again
- 2020 Quarantease first heat winner
- 2015-2024 The Ultimate DIYBURLESKIWI winner for her numerous stellar entrances
- 2025 Twirling Tassesl at the NZ Burleskiwi festival award for favourite neo-burlesque performance and favourite self made costume for her kooky Human Fly
You can find her most weekends either backstage or on stage in the various cabaret shows of Pōneke or playing blues music with other local mischief makers.
