The Immortal Jellyfish
We are everything and nothing.
Plagued by Lynx-Africa.
Tap dancing. Plastic. Lana Del Rey. And how to cook the perfect roast.
Death is inevitable.
The Jellyfish is Immortal.
Coriander tastes like soap.
And when everything matters and nothing matters, who chooses what is moral?
Who gets to decide our fate?
And why is no one talking about the fish that can live forever?
They say to be a woman is to perform, so let me put a show on for you.
The Immortal Jellyfish is an absurdist, camp, comedic exploration of femininity, performance and existence itself - following the inner monologue of an existentialist housewife in an uncanny patriarchal world. Messy. Political. Playful. Unapologetic. And a little insane.
Made by a powerhouse team of emerging female creatives, this show is a smorgasbord of collaboration, experimentation and everything we want to scream (and laugh about) right now.
Written and performed by Margot Coleman who is entering her final year of acting at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, The Immortal Jellyfish is the debut show for emerging theatre company, Lupin de Krank Productions.
