Pōneke Gangster
Ikaiti is a truck driver and minor gangster, trying to make a living in 1940's Pōneke by acting as the criminal underworld's delivery boy. However, after discovering the true nature of his latest gig, he abandons the job and runs off into the night. Now he has just a few hours to right his wrongs, with the help of some local allies, before his former employer's operatives catch up to him.
This performance shows its love of Wellington and explores several iconic locations as well as references to local history. A heavy focus on Māori identity is showcased through the various characters, who different different aspects of tangata Māori and the various personalities among our community who inhabit our urban centres.
