My Puppet Who Sighs in Pearl Shavings

After an enthusiastically received development season in BATS's Studio, My Puppet Who Sighs in Pearl Shavings returns for its premier season.

My Puppet is an intimate confessional that blurs narrative modes from conversational anecdote, to spoken word, to grand myths of creation. Blending the tragic, the comic, and the surreal, the voice of the sole performer constantly shifts and switches.

Cass, an anxious-avoidant trans person relating stories of her life in Wellington after the onset of a slow, and fairly boring, apocalypse. The Oracle, one of the few who still hold separate the aspects of both mind and body, so cruelly stitched together. The Monarch of Lambs; The Dog of Kings;  that which was before, and will be after.

My Puppet is a design-forward, multidisciplinary collaboration brought to you by Landfish, a collective of emerging and established artists and designers.

Directed by Alia Marshall
