Flawless body, flawless hair, flawless skin, flawless performance, flawless manners, flawless smile... otherwise, who are you?
Flawless is a contemporary circus work about the impossible pursuit to be the perfect woman, which our society has conditioned us to value.
Society places relentless pressure on women to be kind, accommodating, smart, outwardly happy and, of course, attractive... that is perfect.
Flawless uses aerial art, mirrors and movement to explore perfectionism and the stresses and self-criticism that comes with it.
This is a show for those of us who are learning it's okay to be human.
Observation and scrutiny of the body is part of circus accentuating perfectionist tendencies. Flawless instead uses circus to shine a light on perfectionism in the hope of breaking away from it.
Flawless is a debut work by Frankie & Lola (Leanne Jenkins and Frances Muir). Leanne and Frances are the aerial artists from Company Hiraeth's award winning show 'Loops.' Loops was recognized in New Zealand Fringe 2022 with the Grand Design and Melbourne Tour Ready awards.
